Discussion and Lecture

Monday, February 15, 2010 – 12:00PM to 1:30PM
Gallery 400 Lecture Room
400 South Peoria Street

Nicolas Lampert Primary

Nicolas Lampert (Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative) provides an overview of the Artists’ Union and the American Artists’ Congress, two leading voices for radical artists during the 1930s. Both organizations responded to the Great Depression and the rise of fascism with collective action, purposefully aligning themselves with working class labor movements. The lecture then segued into an open discussion about how artists are addressing the present day economic crisis.
